Reimagine career education through in depth exploration and an increased understanding and awareness of self. Hats & Ladders helps students understand who they are and who they want to be and identify career pathways that are accessible to them.
Winner of the grand prize in the U.S. Department of Education's Reach Higher App Challenge–a White House initiative led by First Lady Michelle Obama to empower young people to take control of their futures and complete their education beyond high school.
Using user flows, wireframes, clickable prototypes and student user testing, we were able to put forth a solution that met the needs of the challenge and more importantly provide a solution that proved to be compelling and engaging to middle and high school students.
Our winning solution featured visual, student-friendly content, intuitive user interface, research-based career recommendation engine, alignment with career curriculum and integration with government data feeds.
Our team includes 7 core team members who helped to facilitate and create the pilot project with the help of 6 mentors and 11 student testers.
